What are GU tampons made of?

The publication of the composition of tampons by two feminine hygiene international brands has caused media frenzy, plus some alarm in many women who hitherto had not considered what these products are made of.

From GU, we want to transmit tranquillity and transparency to our consumers. As you can see, all our packs specify from the first day all the ingredients that make the tampon.

One of the priorities of GU is the health of women, and for this reason, our tampons are free of chlorine, viscose and dioxin, ingredients considered potentially toxic by some international organisations. Also, it has always been our philosophy to inform as honestly as possible about the components used in our products. Therefore, facing the alarm created by the composition in the tampons of other brands, we want to emphasise the features of GU tampons so you women, may decide judiciously and fully informed about what feminine hygiene is in your interest.

GU tampons do not carry viscose, chlorine and dioxin

Although international brands detail their tampons carry petroleum products such as polyester, polyethylene and polypropylene (in direct contact with the vaginal mucosa), GU tampons are made with 100% organic cotton, and they are free of viscose, cellulose, chlorine and dioxin.

GU tampons are made with 100% organic cotton certified by ICEA

While other brands say -without specifying- that their tampons "can" carry cotton, in GU we emphasise that we only use organic cotton, completely free of pesticides and herbicides. Also, our cotton is certified by the Environmental and Ethical Certification Institute (ICEA), one of the most important certification bodies of eco-bio productions in Europe, under the standards of Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).

GU tampons are unscented

Although many tampons in the market are perfumed with chemical ingredients, GU tampons do not carry any perfume or colour additive.

Look for the 'free of' label and GU quality assurance

We want to remind consumers that our packs always have the seal FREE OF, which ensures that the content is free of substances considered toxic by international organisations as EWG (Environmental Working Group).

In GU we pledge that our products respect the health of the entire family, and therefore beyond the guarantees of ecological certification and European quality, each of our products pass the GU quality control. This means that they are subjected to a thorough analysis of the entire composition to ensure they do not contain ingredients considered harmful to your health and the planet.
